Conservation Camp
Middle School Camp @ Upham Woods-WI Dells (entering grades 6-8) June 14-17, 2023
This camp provide fun outdoor experiences, helps foster an appreciation for nature, and introduces a variety of opportunities in natural resources and conservation careers. Natural resource professionals present programs on wildlife, habitat, water quality, soils, forestry, outdoor skills, and more. Engaging speakers and interesting topics give campers an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities, learn outdoor skills, make new friends, participate in typical ‘summer camp’ experiences, and enjoy Wisconsin’s beautiful outdoors.
The registration fee includes meals, snacks, lodging and a t-shirt. Crawford County Land Conservation offers scholarships to students (awarded one time per individual) living or attending school in Crawford County. Contact Dave Troester @ 608-326-0270

School Activities
Youth Conservation Day is an outdoor learning day for Crawford County students. Held in late September at Sugar Creek Bible Camp, area schools bring their 5th, 6th, or 7th grade students to this fun-filled day. Presentations cover a wide array of topics, such as Forestry, Stream Life, Soils, Fisheries, Wildlife, and Contour Strip Cropping. Presentations are led by partners such as the WI DNR, NRCS, SW Badger RC&D, and USFWS.
Speaking & Poster Contest
The Conservation Speaking and Poster Contest is held each year. Participating schools can have students present posters or speeches that follow the guidelines set forth by the National Association of Conservation Districts, and managed at the Wisconsin level by Wisconsin Land and Water. There are 5 age divisions for the poster contest and 3 divisions for the speaking contest. Please contact the Land Conservation Department if you are interested. Contest are held in the beginning of the year.
